Campaign map

Facebook ads for hotels:
a campaign map for your property.

Five campaigns cover most of what a hotel or tourism business needs from Meta. Each has its own audience, creative, offer and number to judge it by.

Direct bookings

Ready to book · Guests sent straight to your booking engine.

Audience
People in your drive markets and feeder cities, plus visitors to your site.
Creative
Your rooms, views and location in real photos and short video, with the room type or package named.
Offer
A booking through your own engine, with what’s included when they book direct.
Judge it by
Booked nights and revenue, not clicks.

Date retargeting

Still deciding · People who checked dates and didn’t book.

Audience
People who searched dates or viewed a room, where your booking engine can send those events.
Creative
The room or package they looked at, with your reasons to book direct.
Offer
Back to their dates, with the total price clear.
Judge it by
Bookings from these audiences, read with care, as some would have booked anyway.

Seasonal and event packages

Planned stays · School holidays, long weekends and local events.

Audience
Your drive markets, plus people who visited your site or engaged with your pages.
Creative
The package and what’s on nearby, with the dates in view.
Offer
A package with its total price, inclusions and dates stated.
Judge it by
Nights booked for that period, against the budget spent.

Destination awareness

Not planning yet · Getting your area on the list in your drive markets.

Audience
The towns and suburbs within a drive of you, set by location.
Creative
Short videos of the place: the views, the walks and what there is to do, not just the rooms.
Offer
A reason to look, then your rooms or tours.
Judge it by
Reach in your drive markets first, then site visits and bookings over the season.

Past guests and lookalikes

Return stays · Only with consent and a privacy policy that covers it.

Audience
Past guests who agreed to marketing, through a hashed customer list, and lookalikes built from that list.
Creative
What’s new since their stay, and the seasons they haven’t seen.
Offer
An early look at dates or a returning guest offer, with the terms stated.
Judge it by
Repeat bookings and the revenue they bring.

Planning framework, not a results claim. Most properties start with direct bookings and date retargeting, then add the rest once tracking is proven.

Rules and setup

Booking tracking
and price rules.

Two things decide whether these ads can be trusted: tracking that follows a guest through your booking engine, and prices that show what a stay really costs.

We check the first with your booking engine before launch, and the second with you before an ad runs. Facebook advertising for hotels depends on both, as Meta can only learn from the bookings it’s told about. General information, not legal advice. Check your pricing and offers with your legal adviser.

  • Tracking through your booking engineMeta’s hotel events are search, viewing a room, reaching the payment screen and the booking confirmed page. Check-in dates passed with them let ads follow people’s travel dates. Your engine has to send these, so we test a real booking from ad to confirmation.
  • Pixel and Conversions APIMeta recommends running the Conversions API alongside the Pixel, but engines differ. Cloudbeds takes a Pixel ID in its settings, and Bookinglayer says it’s Pixel only, with no Conversions API. Where the engine can’t do it, we use the Pixel and check against your booking reports.
  • Travel adsMeta’s travel ads can show rooms from a catalogue to people who looked at them. They need that catalogue and the events above, so they suit properties whose engine sends them.
  • The total priceUnder section 48 of the Australian Consumer Law, if an ad shows part of a price it must also show the single total price, at least as prominently. That figure includes charges a guest can’t avoid, but not extras they choose. The ACCC’s price display guidance says the same.
  • Cleaning and other feesThe ACCC’s guidance uses a serviced apartment as its example: where a cleaning fee depends on guest numbers, include one fee in the advertised price, then show the full total during booking. Airbnb gave the ACCC an undertaking over how it showed mandatory service and cleaning fees.
  • Book direct and sale claimsSection 18 bans misleading conduct, so “cheaper than booking sites” has to be true for the dates shown. The ACCC’s guide to two-price advertising says a “was” rate must be one people would have paid for a reasonable period before the sale. The ACCC has consulted on price parity clauses, so check your booking site agreements before you advertise a lower direct rate.
  • Guest reviews in adsThe ACCC’s reviews guidance says it’s illegal to create or arrange misleading reviews, and that incentives must be disclosed. So we only use real guest reviews, and you tell us if a guest was given anything for one.
  • Past guest listsMeta’s customer list terms make you warrant that you have the rights, permissions and a lawful basis to use that data. The OAIC’s tracking pixel guidance says online ads targeted through pixels must meet the direct marketing rules, including a simple way to opt out.
  • Coming on 1 July 2027The Unfair Trading Practices Act 2026 adds a new section 48A. Wherever you display a base price, per-transaction charges that aren’t optional must sit close to it, legibly and prominently, at each stage of the purchase. Check your ads and booking engine before then.
What's Included

What we run for
your property.

Every campaign on the map, for one flat $100/week + GST. Tourism Facebook ads and Facebook ads for travel agents run the same way, and Instagram placements come from the same account under that fee.

Campaign Plan for Your Season
Most properties start with direct bookings and date retargeting, then add the rest once tracking is proven. Budgets, markets and quiet periods are set on the strategy call.
Creative That Sells the Stay
Your rooms, views and the area in photos and short clips, in feed, Stories and Reels shapes. You approve it before launch.
Booking Engine Tracking
The Meta Pixel on your site and booking engine, with the Conversions API where the engine supports it, so ads are judged on real bookings.
Packages Around Your Calendar
School holidays, long weekends and local events planned ahead, with total prices shown and dates stated.
Reporting by Booked Nights
Weekly reports by campaign, plus a monthly review, built on booked nights and revenue. Budget moves towards the ads that fill rooms.
From ad to booking

From ad to booking,
with no extra steps.

A guest who taps an ad has already picked you. The job now is not to lose them on the way to the booking engine.

The map sits inside our Meta ads management service, so the same campaign manager runs every campaign on it. Hotels Facebook ads work best when direct booking, retargeting and seasonal campaigns share one set of audiences, which is why we don’t split them across suppliers.

  • The right room or package pageAds land on the room, package or tour they show, not your homepage. Meta’s Advertising Standards also say what an ad promotes must match the landing page.
  • The booking engineWe test it on a phone: how quickly it loads, whether the room and dates carry through, and whether the total shows early, so no fee appears at the last step. If the engine is the weak point, we tell you before spending.
  • Follow-up emails with consentPre-stay and return offer emails need consent, your identity and a working opt-out. The ACMA’s spam guidance also says unsubscribe requests must be actioned within five working days.

No hospitality case study yet.
Here’s the closest work.

We don’t have a published hotel or tourism case study, and we won’t invent one. Neither of these clients is in hospitality. Clever Klogs sells online, and its Back to School campaign is the closest match to a seasonal push tracked to sales. North Coast Water Tanks is a regional NSW business that started from nothing on Meta. More in our client case studies.

Results for these clients, not averages or a forecast for your property.

What our clients say

“Humming Web completely transformed how we approach Facebook and Instagram advertising. Before working with them our ad spend felt like money down the drain, high cost per lead, low quality enquiries, and no real transparency from our previous agency.”
Craig R.Sydney, NSW
“I'd tried two other agencies before Humming Web. This is the first time my Meta Ads have actually made me money. Transparent, fast to respond, and genuinely care about results. 5.2× ROAS in month two. Can't recommend enough.”
David K.Melbourne, VIC
“Finally an agency that speaks plain English. Weekly reports tell us exactly what's working — no vanity metrics, no jargon. Leads are up 3× compared to what we were getting before. Direct line to the campaign manager is a game changer.”
James M.Perth, WA
“Switched from a large agency where we were just another account number. The difference is night and day. Humming Web actually understand our business, suggest new ideas, and are proactive. Results have been consistent and improving each month.”
Priya N.Sydney, NSW

Facebook ads for hotels questions.

Do Facebook ads work for hotels and motels?

They can, when the ads reach people who could realistically come, the offer is clear and your booking engine works well on a phone. They suit planned stays and people who aren't searching yet, while last-minute bookings lean on Google and booking sites. We can't promise a number of bookings or a return, because your location, season, rates and offer all change the result. Our client case studies show what real accounts did, with the spend included.

How much do Facebook ads cost for hotels?

With us there are two costs. Management is $100 a week + GST, billed monthly, and it isn't tied to your ad spend. There's no commission on bookings. The ad budget is paid straight to Meta by you, from $20 a day. There's no setup fee, and it runs month to month with 7 days' notice. Budget needs grow with how many markets and seasons you promote at once. Our guide to Meta ads costs in Australia goes through it in more detail.

Can you track bookings from my booking engine?

Usually, but it depends on the engine. Meta's hotel events run from a date search through to the booking confirmed page, and the engine has to send them. Some take a Pixel ID in their settings, and some don't support the Conversions API. We check yours, then test a real booking from ad to confirmation. Where tracking is limited, we compare the ads with your booking reports.

How do we compete with booking sites?

Give people a reason to book with you directly, such as breakfast, late checkout or a room upgrade. Ads then put that offer in front of people who've already looked at you, including those who found you on a booking site. Booking sites still bring guests, so the aim is to win more direct bookings, not to replace them. The ACCC has consulted on price parity clauses, so check your agreements before you advertise a lower direct rate, and any "cheaper than booking sites" claim must be true for the dates shown. Our SEO for hotels works on the same problem from the search side.

Which locations should we target?

Start with your drive markets: the towns and cities your guests already come from. Your booking records usually show this, and we only need postcodes and counts, not guest names. Most properties then add a few feeder cities for long weekends and school holidays. Meta's location help says location targeting can include people who live there, recently visited or often visit, and that complete accuracy isn't guaranteed, so we watch where bookings really come from and adjust.

Do we need new photos or video?

Not always. Good, honest photos of your rooms, views and the area go a long way, and short clips filmed on a phone often work well in Stories and Reels. Whatever you use should show what guests will really get. If you don't have enough video, AI video reels are a separate service that makes new creative with no filming. We start with what you've got and tell you what to capture next.

Can you run Google Ads for hotels too?

Yes. Google Ads management is a separate service from the same team. Google catches people searching for a stay right now, while Facebook reaches people before they've chosen where to go. Many properties run both, so one set of booking data decides where the money goes. Prices for every service are on our pricing page.

How long until we see bookings?

We can't promise a date or a number. People often plan a stay well ahead, so bookings can land weeks after someone first sees an ad, and new campaigns start in a learning phase. Meta says an ad set becomes learning limited when it's unlikely to get about 50 optimisation events in the week after its last significant edit, which can happen on a small budget. That isn't a penalty, but results take longer to settle, so we judge campaigns over a season rather than a week.

What happens to our audiences if we stop?

They stay with your business. Custom audiences, your Pixel, campaign history and every ad we made sit in your own Meta ad account and Business Manager. Give 7 days' notice before your next billing date and we hand everything over with no exit fee.
