A free Facebook ads audit
from the person who’d run your ads.
Our Facebook ads audit is a hands-on review of your Meta ad account by one of our campaign managers. We check tracking, structure, audiences, creative and budget, then send the fixes that matter most, ranked by how much each problem is likely to be costing you.

When your account needs
a Meta ads audit.
Accounts rarely break all at once. Costs drift up and reports stop matching your inbox.
- 01
Cost per lead keeps creeping up.
Campaigns that once brought enquiries at a fair price now cost more for each one. Often the ads have gone stale, or budget has drifted to ad sets that stopped working.
- 02
Meta reports more leads than you received.
Duplicate events, a Pixel firing on the wrong page or a generous attribution window can all inflate reported results. Budget calls made on those numbers go wrong.
- 03
The same ads have run for months.
When the same people see an ad again and again, they stop clicking, and reaching anyone new gets dearer. That’s creative fatigue, and it’s one of the cheaper problems to fix.
- 04
You can’t see inside your own account.
If an agency built the ad account in its own name, or sends a PDF in place of access, you can’t check the work. We start by confirming who owns what.
A Facebook ad account audit is a structured check of everything between your ad budget and the enquiries it produces. It’s the same review our Meta ads management team runs before taking over any account.
Sample Facebook ads audit
findings, ranked by severity.
This is the format your fix list arrives in: one row per check, what we look for, the problem we often find and how to fix it.
How we rank severity: High means money is going out against a wrong signal or a weak page, so fix it first. Medium means spend is working harder than it needs to. Low is polish for once the rest is right.
| Check | What we look for | Common problem | Fix | Severity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel and Conversions API | Each lead or sale recorded once, from browser and server | Browser and server copies of the same event both counted | Send matching event IDs, then test in Events Manager | High |
| Optimisation event | Campaigns optimising for the action you actually want | Lead campaigns optimising for link clicks or page views | Switch to the lead or purchase event once it records reliably | High |
| Attribution and reporting | Meta’s results compared with your CRM or inbox | Reported leads well above the enquiries that arrived | Reconcile one month of leads, then fix the gap at its source | High |
| Landing page and offer | A fast mobile page that matches the ad’s promise | A slow homepage sitting behind a specific offer | Send each ad to a page built for that offer | High |
| Ad category and policy | Special Ad Category declared where it applies | Job or finance ads running without the right category | Declare the category and rebuild targeting within its limits | High |
| Account structure | Enough budget in each ad set for Meta to learn | Budget spread across many small ad sets stuck in learning | Consolidate into fewer campaigns and ad sets | Medium |
| Audiences | Exclusions, retargeting windows and overlap | New-customer ads shown to existing customers and recent leads | Exclude customer lists and recent converters | Medium |
| Creative fatigue | Frequency, click-through rate and cost per result over time | Months-old ads with frequency rising and clicks falling | Test new angles and formats, retire tired ads | Medium |
| Budget split | Spend flowing to the ad sets that produce results | Most budget on the ad set with the dearest results | Move budget in steps towards ad sets that convert | Medium |
| Placements and formats | Creative sized for feed, Stories and Reels | Square images cropped awkwardly in 9:16 placements | Supply 4:5 and 9:16 versions of each ad | Low |
Why every Facebook ad account
audit starts with tracking.
Meta’s delivery system optimises towards whatever events your account sends it. If those events are wrong, every other setting is tuned to the wrong goal.
So before audiences or creative, we open Events Manager: which events fire and where, whether one lead is counted twice, and whether totals match your inbox or CRM. Meta’s Conversions API documentation lists confirming that events are deduplicated and matched correctly as a setup step. It’s an easy step to skip when an account goes live in a hurry.
- Event healthWhich events fire, on which pages and how often, checked against real form submissions and purchases.
- Browser and serverPixel and Conversions API events sent once each, with matching IDs so Meta can tell they’re the same action.
- Reality checkOne month of Meta-reported leads set beside your own records, so the gap has a number on it.

Free Facebook ads audit
vs ongoing management.
The audit shows you what’s wrong. Management is us fixing it and running the account week to week.
Plenty of owners make the changes themselves. If you’d rather hand it over, management runs on a flat weekly fee with no setup fee. Full rates sit on our Meta ads and social media pricing page. If your organic feed has gone quiet too, our done-for-you social media posting is a separate service that can sit alongside the ads.

Where your fix list
usually leads.
Audits often point to one weak area. Not every fix sits inside Meta: if the landing page is the weak point, our SEO audit services review the website itself, and if people are already searching for what you sell, Google Ads management may catch them sooner.

Meta ads for online storesWhat our clients say
“Humming Web completely transformed how we approach Facebook and Instagram advertising. Before working with them our ad spend felt like money down the drain, high cost per lead, low quality enquiries, and no real transparency from our previous agency.”
“I'd tried two other agencies before Humming Web. This is the first time my Meta Ads have actually made me money. Transparent, fast to respond, and genuinely care about results. 5.2× ROAS in month two. Can't recommend enough.”
“Finally an agency that speaks plain English. Weekly reports tell us exactly what's working — no vanity metrics, no jargon. Leads are up 3× compared to what we were getting before. Direct line to the campaign manager is a game changer.”
“Switched from a large agency where we were just another account number. The difference is night and day. Humming Web actually understand our business, suggest new ideas, and are proactive. Results have been consistent and improving each month.”
Facebook ads audit questions.
What does a Facebook ads audit check?
A Facebook ads audit is a review of your Meta ad account that checks whether your budget reaches the right people with the right signals. Ours covers the Pixel and Conversions API, events, structure, audiences, creative fatigue, frequency, placements, budget split, landing pages, offer and attribution settings.
Is your Meta ads audit actually free?
Yes. There's no fee, no card details and no obligation to hire us afterwards. We offer it because a proper look at your account is the quickest way for both sides to see whether we can help, and the fix list stays with you.
What access do you need to my ad account?
We need partner access through your Meta Business Manager, which lets us view the ad account without you sharing a password. We email the steps after you request the audit, and you can remove our access whenever you like.
Will you change anything in my account during the audit?
No. The audit is a review only, so no campaigns, budgets or ads are edited, paused or created. Any change happens later, made by you, by your current agency, or by us if you decide to hire us.
Can you audit an account another agency manages?
Yes. A Facebook ads account audit is often a second opinion on an agency's work. You add us as a partner from your own Business Manager, so the agency doesn't need to do anything. If they hold the ad account in their name, we'll flag it.
Why does Meta show more leads than I actually received?
Meta can report more results than you can count because of duplicate events, a Pixel firing on the wrong page, or attribution settings that credit ads for conversions they only partly influenced. The audit compares Meta's figures with your own records to find which one applies.
What is creative fatigue in Facebook ads?
Creative fatigue is when the same people see an ad so often they stop responding, so clicks drop and each result costs more. We spot it by tracking frequency, click-through rate and cost per result for each ad over time, then suggest fresh angles to test.
How often should I audit my Facebook ad account?
A full audit makes sense when results change sharply, when an agency or staff member hands the account over, or before you raise the budget. Between audits, a weekly look at cost per result and frequency catches most problems before they get expensive.
How is the audit different from your free Meta ads plan?
The main difference is that the audit reviews an ad account that's already spending, while the free plan suits businesses that haven't started or want a clean slate. The audit gives you fixes; the plan suggests audiences, first tests and a daily budget.
Is a Facebook ads audit worth it for a small account?
Yes, if you spend every week and can't say what each lead or sale costs. It's less useful when an account has only run for a few days, because there isn't enough data to judge. Small budgets still produce readable numbers once tracking is right.
